It has been more than a year since I last wrote here.
I moved home from California, started dating my best friend, started back at the coffee shop, got a second job working at a library. My best friend decided that he loved me so much he wanted to marry me. Three months later brings us to now and I have been married to my best friend/man of my dreams for two and a half weeks.
One of my biggest dreams unfolded before me and happened all within a year. I became a wife. The last post I wrote was about that dream. I can imagine writing it all down in my journal...
I was sitting at a locally owned coffee shop located on Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks, California. Night had fallen and I was sitting outside. The night life was starting to awaken as the cool breeze was making it hard to keep my pages in place to write down my hearts desires. As I finished, my friend had arrived and it was time to go home. I laid in my bed that night thinking about when this time in my life would possibly come. It felt so far off. However, I knew in my heart that I was never to stop pursuing my dream. Which I thought was quite comical at the time. How on earth am I supposed to pursue my biggest hearts desire when its being a wife? What does that even mean?
When you stop and think about it though, when you have a dream, you cannot just pursue it when your there.
dream |drēm| (n) a cherished aspiration, ambition, or ideal.
A dream, clearly stated above, is something you must work towards. It is not going to fall into your lap or scream at you it pursue it. It must be pursued. "What does that look like?" is question you are not alone in asking. And quite honestly, I do not have a play by play answer for you. But what I do know is that you DO NOT wait around for it and do absolutely nothing. With my dream, it was hard because I believe that the woman should be pursued by the man. So I had to be creative and ask Holy Spirit what me pursuing this dream for being a wife looked like.
For the longest time, I thought, "I cannot be a wife until a man makes me one. Therefore I am stuck waiting." Can I please tell you how wrong it is to think that way? It is. It is really poor thinking. It is wrong because the only person that can make you dream happen is you.
With the help of Holy Spirit, I recognized that I needed to learn how to be a wife before I actually was one. So I read books on what it means to be a wife. I went deep into scripture on what the Bible said about being a wife. After my researching, (in which I am still learning), I carried myself as if I was someones wife. The way I presented myself was with respect and I honored the men with purity. I fully believe in my heart that what I was doing, was pursuing my dream to be a wife because I became what I wanted to be before I was "there".
Become whatever is it you want to be before you are "there".
Here is a little tough love. :]
stop being so lazy and procrastinating.
Your dream will not come alive if you sit in one spot and hope for you to "one day" have this epiphany of what you need to do to get there tomorrow. Dreams becoming reality take a lot of hard work and focus. Lazy people stay who they are and top off at average, possibly.
I want to encourage you with the dreams in your heart.
pursue them.
Let's do something with the crazy dreams we have and turn them into purpose and allow them to come alive.
