identity + dreams = purpose
identity |īˈdentitē| • the fact of being who or what a person or thing is
dream |drēm| • a cherished aspiration, ambition, or ideal
purpose |ˈpərpəs| • the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists
Dreams becoming reality are what my heart lunges at and as you become accustom to my blog, you will see the thread that weaves itself through, dreams. I used to wonder why they even existed. What is the point of having these great ideas only for them to be stagnant and cause us to eventually hate anything else we do. Then, the good Dad took me on a journey...
She always knew God because she was raised running through the church from start until the after hours. Her childhood memories are sitting in Sunday School learning Bible stories via felt board and running outside the church building looking for small frogs and new "secret hideouts." As the years progressed she became hungry for God and who He was. At the age of 15, she felt the call of God on her life.
Skipping through years of turmoil and deep ditches, she found herself broken with what she was called to be and who she even was. She met a Godsend group of people through her time of being restored into a new person and they showed her this new side of God.
You see, God is a creator. She found her identity in Him when she began to recognize her identity of being His daughter. As His daughter, she is like Him and created like him. So then being like Him means that she too was able to create. Because with the help of her Father she was unstoppable.
So she started on a journey of discovering this attribute of her Father. How He thought; How He cried; How He created. But most importantly, she found this warm, relentlessly pursuing heart. His heart was for her and what she wanted. She was His daughter after all, and what loving parents heart is not for there child and all they dream to do?
So why was that exactly? Why did her Father want what she wanted for this world?
Allow me to take you back to the greatest [true] story ever written and told.
At the very beginning of time, Adam ruined us being one with God because he wanted to taste some bad fruit sold to him by the evil one [satan]. Most of us know the story.
[If not, Adam's story (not all of it, just the fall of mankind)]
God [my Father] sent His Son [my Elder Brother] to this world so that we could be one with Him again. My Elder Brother [Jesus] died a brutal death so that He could tear the veil that kept us from our Father. But do not fret, He rose again after three days. [He just needed some time to drop kick satan in the face and take back what the enemy stole from His brothers and sisters].
So after making a super long, extravagant story short [you can find the full version through the whole New Testament in the Bible], we now have the duty of carrying through what our Elder Brother did. What did He do? I will tell you.
He drove the darkness out of lives that kept us from God so that the Glory of our Father may dwell inside of us. But that is not where the story ends...
Now, as she began to learn the importance of what her Elder Brother did, she began to also realize not only her identity, which was a Daughter of God, but her purpose. He purpose was not her calling. I believe that while those two things are similar and have the same thread through them, they are not the same.
She discovered that her purpose was to drive the darkness out of this world so that the amazing people of this world could encounter the love of God. That was her purpose. Now how on earth that was to be done is the exciting part. That is the part my heart lunges at every time I talk to a person about their purpose.
DREAMS!!!!
You may be wondering, what do they have to do with anything she just said?? They are extremely important my friend!! They are what makes our journey with our purpose fun and invigorating!! You see, after we accept what Jesus did for us by dying on the cross, then we can take back what Adam was manipulated into giving satan, our heritage.
We are then children of God, He is now our DNA. Before Him, we still had dreams and desires of what to do with our life. Our dreams. Whether its to be a wealthy businessman, to make music, design clothes, be a mom, whatever it is, we all have them. Dreams.
They are a part of us and they must not die. Because beloved, they are meant to come true. God would never create something in us that He did not intend on bringing out of us.
May I propose to you my equation again? Thank you.
identity + dreams = purpose
When you learn who your Father is and His heart for you, you begin to discover that He placed these dreams inside of you so that you can fulfill your purpose with excellence.
My dream[s]? Well, I am a wife to my fearless husband and my dream is to push him towards his dreams and create a safe atmosphere for him to do so. I also have a dream of creating little world changers with my husband. I have a dream to make my life hospitable through my other dreams of writing a book[s] and singing my heart out.
While doing all of that I am living out my purpose of driving darkness out of this world. Through my identity and dreams, I am living my purpose.
Now quiet the noise around you that screams, "you can't." And listen to the comforting whisper saying, "it's what I created you for my child."
